RESULTS
Overall the auction comfortably exceeded pre-sale estimates, with strong prices in all areas. The price achieved for Weinmann’s Phytanthoza Iconographia was an auction record; material relating to China and the near and middle also performed outstandingly. Cartography proved popular, with a 1482 Ptolemaic atlas selling for over high estimate, and a rare 18th-century map of the Philippines being contested by several bidders.
