The sale brought a grand total of £1.4 million ($2.3 million) and saw 91% of lots find buyers. Both the featured collections exceeded their pre-sale low estimates and confirmed strong demand for top wines from classic regions at all stages of maturity and in all bottle formats. The top lot was this six-bottle case of Romanée-Conti 1996 DRC, which sold for £44,650 ($73,673) to an Asian collector.

The London sale of Finest and Rarest Wines Featuring Two Magnificent Collections is set to attract wine connoisseurs from across the globe, with over 900 lots of superb Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône and Champagne.

The lead collection is a vinous treasure trove spanning seven decades. Gems from Bordeaux include Châteaux Latour 1959 and 1961, Mouton Rothschild 1961, Lafleur 1982 and Le Pin 1990. The cellar also boasts the complete set of reds from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in the 1995 and 1996 vintages as well as the legendary Rhône wines Hermitage La Chapelle 1961 and 1978.

The second collection is equally impressive, featuring top Left Bank wines, the best Pomerols and stars of St. Emilion from recent decades. Highlights include Châteaux Mouton Rothschild and La Mission Haut Brion 2000, Lafite 2003, Cheval Blanc and Montrose 2005 together with a stunning selection from the critically acclaimed 2009 and 2010 vintages. There is outstanding Grand Cru and Premier Cru Burgundy from prominent producers such as Sylvain Cathiard, Gros Frère et Soeur, Hudelot-Noëllat, Meo-Camuzet, Denis Mortet and Armand Rousseau.

Completing the sale are parcels of superlative Champagne - Krug, Salon, Bollinger and Dom Pérignon - to name a few.
