James Sevier joined Sotheby’s in 2004. In his current role as Director and Specialist, he is involved in securing consignments for both the Day and Evening Contemporary Art sales, with a focus on new markets. He oversees the Contemporary Art Day sales in London and has successfully introduced the work of leading Indian and Russian artists into Sotheby’s International Contemporary Art auctions.
Earlier in his career at Sotheby’s, he was a member of the Evening Sales team working as a Cataloguer and Researcher, and was closely involved in the inaugural Beyond Limits selling exhibition of monumental sculpture at Chatsworth in 2006.
Mr Sevier earned a Master of Arts degree in the History of Art from Edinburgh University.
