Mrs. Isaure de Viel Castel assumed the position of Head of Mid-Season Sales, Contemporary & Modern, Fine Art Department in Asia in October 2013, responsible for organising the bi-annual Boundless: Contemporary Art auction in Hong Kong.
Mrs. de Viel Castel joined Sotheby's in 2005, working in the Impressionist and Modern Art Department in New York. She then moved to France in 2006 as Specialist developing the Impressionist and Modern Art Sales in Paris, and, thereafter, joined the Contemporary Art Department in 2008. Mrs. de Viel Castel’s passion for the Asian market has led her working closely with Sotheby’s team in Asia – she was responsible for sourcing modern and contemporary Chinese art in France for Asia sales; and, together with the Asia team, she pioneered the bi-annual Asian Modern and Contemporary Art Week in Paris.
Prior to joining Sotheby's, Mrs. de Viel Castel worked at Galerie Cazeau-Béraudière from 2002 to 2004, specialising in Impressionist and Modern art. She holds a Master’s degree in Art and Communication from Ecole Supérieure d'Art et de Communication, and two Bachelor of Arts degrees in History of Art from the Ecole du Louvre and the Sorbonne.
