Gauri joined Sotheby's in 2011 and is responsible for a group of key Indian clients advising them on Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art. She has worked on the sale of notable Indian paintings including those by Amrita Sher-Gil sold in 2015-16.

She works closely with international specialists developing the Indian client base transacting in global departments. In this role, she has developed important client relationships and helped them acquire key works across various departments including Old Masters, Impressionist and Modern Art and Contemporary Art.

In her role in business development, she has driven a number of major client initiatives – bringing in new clients and strengthening the firm’s relationship with some of the most important South Asian clients. These include the Abu Jani/Sandeep Khosla book launch and The Last Emperor: In Performance (with William Dalrymple) in London. She has driven educational programs in India including Simon Shaw’s talk ‘Selling the Scream: The Modern Masterpiece in Today’s Global Market’ and Philip Hook’s talk ‘10 Questions that Establish the Value of a Painting’.

Prior to joining Sotheby's, Gauri spent 2 years at Grosvenor Gallery, London. She has also spent 8 years working in wealth management for Goldman Sachs in New York and Kotak Mahindra Bank in New Delhi.

Gauri holds a MA in Contemporary Art from the Sotheby's Institute of Art, London and a BA from Haverford College, USA, with a major in Economics and minor in Art History.
