Derya Baykal joined Sotheby’s in May 2011 following a year-long internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Franklin and Marshall College and a Master’s degree in the History of Decorative Arts and Design Program, with a focus on European and American ceramics, at Parsons School of Design in collaboration with the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. She participated in the Attingham Summer School 2011 program and is currently an alumna of the Attingham Trust.
Ms Baykal has been closely involved in the sales of Property from the Estate of Brooke Astor, Kentshire: A Legendary Collection and Property from the Collection of Mrs. Paul Mellon. She is fluent is several languages, including German and French, and is an active member of the French Porcelain Society, the American Ceramics Circle and the Majolica International Society.
