- Joined Sotheby's in 1989
Christina Prescott-Walker joined Sotheby’s in 1989, moving to New York in 1998 to become Director of the European Ceramics and Chinese Export porcelain department. In 2008 she was appointed as Department Director of the Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Department, whilst retaining oversight of European Ceramics.
Prior to coming to New York, she spent four years in our London Ceramics & Glass department where she was Deputy Director. She began her career at Sotheby’s in 1989 in the Sussex Ceramics & Oriental Works of Art department and has served as an Auctioneer since 1991.
As both Specialist and Auctioneer, she has overseen every one of Sotheby’s major European Ceramics and Chinese Export sales, including The Harriman Judd Collection of British Art Pottery (2001), Important Chinese Export Porcelain from The Mottahedeh Collection (2000), Property from the Estate of Laurance S. Rockefeller (2005), The Harriet Carlton Goldweitz Collection (2006), The Collections of Hanns and Elisabeth Weinberg and the Antique Company of New York (2006), The Collection of Khalil Rizk (2008) and Chinese Export Porcelain from The Private Collection of Elinor Gordon (2010), and, since moving to the Chinese Works of Art department, Fine Chinese Furniture, Works of Art and Carpets from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections (2009), The Joe Grimberg Collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles (2010), A Private Collection of ‘Song’ Ceramics (2011) and Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art from J. T. Tai & Co. (2011).
Ms Prescott-Walker graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, in 1989.
