Biography

Beatrice Stern, Chairman of the International Advisory Board, joined Sotheby's in Paris in 1996 having studied at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. She then worked for Brame et Lorenceau Galerie in Paris, assisting in the preparation of the Catalogues Raisonnés of Henri Fantin-Latour and Gustave Caillebotte. Afterward, she worked at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. In 2000, upon returning to New York, she joined Sotheby's Old Master Paintings Department, where she remained until 2013. In her current role, Beatrice is involved in Sotheby's business development opportunities.

Beatrice is a Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She serves on the International Boards of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the board of the Morgan Library & Museum as well as the council of New York Presbyterian Hospital. She holds a Master's Degree from the École du Louvre, Paris.
