Amedeo Modigliani was tempestuous and undisciplined but also extraordinarily talented. His prodigious talent is on full display in 'Jeanne Hébuterne (au foulard)' – a powerful yet poignant portrait of his lover who leapt to her death two days after the artist’s own death. 'Jeanne Hébuterne (au foulard)' is a beautifully achieved balance between Modigliani's unique mannerism and a tender insight into the personality of his muse. The work is a star of Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale on 21 June 2016 in London.
