Cy Twombly’s iconic blackboard paintings are purely about technique, line and the act of painting. 'Untitled (New York City)’ from 1968 is the most mature from this ground-breaking series for its complexity and its monumental scale. The work will be offered as a major highlight of Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Auction on 11 November in New York.
