  A fine example from one of the most notable vedutisti of the Venetian school, this port scene is part of a distinctive group within Carlevarijs’s oeuvre.   Female Saint, Italian, Lombardy, circa 1470-1490 and later.
  Estimate £25,000–30,000.

  A graceful figure of a female saint, exhibiting the characteristics of Lombard sculpture from the second half of the 15th century. The pose and drapery scheme find a strong parallel in the Apostles from the façade of the Certosa di Pavia, whilst the large scale, combined with the dynamic pose, ensures an extraordinary sense of presence.

  Pietro Longhi, (Venice 1700/02-1785), The Fortune Teller.
  Estimate £60,000–80,000.

  An exciting rediscovery, The Fortune Teller is a fine example of the elegant genre scenes for which Longhi is best known, and relates to other works painted by the Venetian master around the mid-18th century. In particular, it shares some similarities with other paintings of his, which explore the world of quack doctors and tooth-pullers, all located in comparable settings under the arcades of the Doge’s palace.

  During the early to mid-eighteenth century, Venetian cabinet-makers and craftsmen developed a unique and original style of lacquer decoration , employing technique and materials similar to those applied to the gondola.   An Italian Renaissance carved walnut, fruitwood and oak inlaid intarsia cassone in the manner of Domenico Del Tasso, Florence, circa 1500. Estimate £20,000–40,000.

  The present cassone is one of the finest in a series whose design originated within the workshop of the Del Tasso family in Florence and Perugia during the latter part of the 15th century, and is characterized by a crisply masculine yet gentle carving, and distinctive scrolled rosaces. Its sarcophagus shape belies the growing interest in Roman antiquities during the Italian Renaissance. Of a small group of nearly identical cassoni, one is now in the Fondazione Cini, Venice, whilst another is in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
