Celebrating Autumn Sales with Tiqui Atencio & More

The evening of 12 November was an especially lively night for Sotheby’s New York galleries. Chairman Lisa Dennison invited guests for cocktails to celebrate Tiqui Atencio’s new book, Could Have, Would Have, Should Have, while CEO Tad Smith and Caroline Fitzgibbons with David Goodman, Sotheby’s EVP, Digital Development & Marketing, and Susan Sandler hosted a reception and private viewing of the autumn Impressionist & Modern and contemporary sales. The timing was especially serendipitous for art world insider Atencio, a close friend of Steven and Ann Ames, whose vibrant and expansive collection headlines Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening sale. “Steven was so in love with his art. It made every day of his more joyful, even in his worst moments,” said Antencio, recalling when she interviewed the couple for the last part of her new book. “Steven would say, ‘If we don’t have art, what are we going to talk about? Golf?” To see more from both events, click ahead. –Stephanie Sporn
