The art world descended upon Aspen last week, culminating in the Aspen Art Museum’s annual ArtCrush gala and auction on 5 August. Guests of the carnival-themed fundraiser, designed by STONEFOX architects, drank wines selected by master sommelier Jay Fletcher while briskly bidding in silent and live auctions, helmed by Sotheby's Oliver Barker, of more than 60 works, including pieces by Elmgreen & Dragset, Jessica Stockholder and Dashiell Manley. Later in the evening, AAM director Heidi Zuckerman presented Gabriel Orozco with the esteemed Aspen Award for Art. “It’s a family in the middle of the mountains – great collections – and the museum is fantastic,” said Orozco, who currently has an exhibition at AAM. “I’m happy coming from New York, because I can meet the whole [art] world here.” Click ahead to view the best moments from the evening, which raised over $2 million for the museum.
