Arranging Flowers with Bella Meyer

“Listen to your flowers,” reminded Bella Meyer, founder and creative director of Fleurs Bella, as she supervised guests twisting branches and snipping stems at her floral arranging workshop at Sotheby’s this past Sunday. After mingling over mimosas and coffee, Meyer led participants in designing their own playful arrangements of white, aubergine and aptly-named Picasso calla lilies (colours selected in honour of Sotheby's Designer Showhouse and Auction.) It’s an art that Meyer, the granddaughter of Marc Chagall, has made her own – and warmly shares. ”More and more I realize that when I talk about arrangements, I speak in artistic terms – colours, movement, energy, story," she says. “In a way, it’s as if I were painting.”
