On The Road: Robert Frank and the Beats

Robert Frank's The Americans is, among many other things, a story of the American road. Its photographs are exclusively the product of Frank's travels through America in the years 1955, 1956, and 1957.  As such, it is entirely fitting that Beat writer Jack Kerouac, author of the classic American road novel, On the Road, wrote the introduction to Frank's book. Both The Americans and On the Road share the same DNA: each is the result of their author’s desire to see the country, and understand through seeing. – Chistopher Mahoney
