NEW YORK – A collection of eight masterpieces of Abstract Expressionism, with paintings by Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Clyfford Still, Franz Kline, Arshile Gorky, Joan Mitchell, Hans Hofmann, and Adolph Gottlieb form the basis of the Contemporary Art Evening and Day sales. This large-scale work, No.1 (Royal Red and Blue), painted by Mark Rothko in 1954, highlights the sale and is estimated to bring $35-$50 million.
