The £23.6 Million Miró.

LONDON - Joan Miró’s Peinture (Étoile bleue), on view at Sotheby’s before setting a record for the Surrealist master when it sold at auction last night for £23.6 Million ($36.9 million), amidst competition from four bidders. Just five years ago, the painting – considered by the artist to be the key work in his Dream Paintings series – sold for $16.8 million. The $20 million increase is a vivid demonstration of the rising power of Surrealism in the art market.
