PHOENIX – The mechanical embodiment of a well-dressed gentleman, this stunning 1949 Jaguar XK 120 Alloy Roadster, purchased new and owned by the legendary industrial designer Brooks Stevens for 46 years, may well be the highlight of the Craig McCaw Collection, some of which will be sold in January to support the Revs Institute, Stanford University and other charities including The Nature Conservancy. In exceptional original condition, the roadster looks precisely like a car that was raced and enjoyed but also cared for by its conscientious owners. Particularly rare – there were only 242 alloy XK 120s built – it possesses as much panache, character and cultivated charm as a lead character in a Cole Porter musical.
