NEW YORK – This Tuesday, seven of New York's finest museums will open their doors after hours with free admission to celebrate the thirty-eighth Museum Mile Festival. An annual tradition for native New Yorkers and visitors alike, it's the perfect opportunity to visit some of the richest permanent collections in the city, and also to check out what's new from these Fifth Avenue favourites. The Metropolitan Museum of Art
A visit to the Met promises a fascinating exhibition for every taste and interest. A couple highlights that shouldn't be missed: Cornelia Parker's Transitional Object (PsychoBarn) and the recently opened Costume Institute show Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.

Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
Among Cooper Hewitt's plethora of excellent exhibitions, one sure standout is Pixar: The Story of Design, which features rare concept art from award-winning films such Toy Story, Wall-E and Up and shows how visual design and story development can work hand in hand.

Sotheby's recently interviewed fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi about his first dedicated exhibition, on view at the Jewish Museum. Visitors can also check out the second installment of The Television Project series, which examines anti-Semitism through the lens of television and pop culture and sculptures by Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Take your pick between But a Storm Is Blowing from Paradise: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa, a contemporary look at artistic practices in the Middle East and North Africa, and Moholy-Nagy: Future Present, the first comprehensive retrospective of the influential Bauhaus teacher László Moholy-Nagy to take place in the United States in nearly fifty years.
El Museo Del Barrio
In addition to a display of recent acquisitions to the museum's permanent collection, be one of the first to see Antonio Lopez: Future Funk Fashion during opening day. The exhibition features the late illustrator’s drawings, prototypes for fantasy shoes and portraits of various fashion world stars, many from publications where Lopez worked including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Andy Warhol’s Interview.
Neue Galerie New York
Neue Galerie's permanent display of Austrian art and design, including Gustav Klimt's unmissable portrait Adele Bloch-Bauer I will be on view.
