LONDON - This Sunday Sotheby’s London invites you to an afternoon of talks and light refreshments in advance of the sale Daughter of History: Mary Soames and the Legacy of Churchill on 17th December. The exhibition, which includes many personal possessions as well as important paintings by Winston Churchill, will be on view from 12 noon until 5.00pm

Edward Fox and his daughter, Emilia Fox, will read from the letters and diaries of Lady Mary Soames, the youngest of Winston Churchill’s five children. 

They will be followed by art historian David Coombs in conversation with Minnie Churchill to discuss the paintings of Sir Winston Churchill.

The author and broadcaster James Holland will then present ‘Father and Daughter during WWII,’ before Sir Nicholas Soames, Mary Soames’ oldest son, in conversation with Henry Wyndham, Chairman Sotheby’s Europe brings the afternoon to a close.

This promises to be a fascinating day, and with lots ranging in price from £10 up to £400,000 it presents a chance to find that perfect Christmas present to buy in the auction on December 17th.
