A Royal Presentation Water Lilly Inkwell by Edward Barnard & Sons. Estimate £2,500–3,500.

LONDON – This elegant object may have been a gift to Queen Victoria or to her daughter Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa, born on 21 November 1840, and for which a new silver baptismal font was commissioned, decorated with water lilies. It recalls the mirrored surtout-de-table, sold by Sotheby’s in the Chatsworth Attic Sale in October 2010, made to celebrate the 6th Duke of Devonshire’s achievement in cultivating the first giant Amazon water lilly in Britain, which he named 'the Victoria Regina Water Lily.'
