Ten Fossilised Dinosaur Eggs, Jurassic Period 100 million BC.
LONDON - Stanley Seeger’s enthusiasm for natural history is reflected in these ten fossilised dinosaur eggs from the Jurassic Period. Like every object in his collection they have a story to tell, but in this case the early provenance is a little more difficult to discern – who knows, perhaps they were laid by Sue, the largest and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex specimens ever found. Sue also passed through Sotheby’s in October 1997, when the skeleton sold for $7.6 million, the highest amount ever paid for a dinosaur fossil. She can now be seen at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois.
