Owl jug and cover, Staffordshire slipware. Estimate £15,000-20,000.

LONDON – This late 17th century owl jug would have served as a drinking vessel, with the head removed to use as a cup. It bears a striking resemblance to “Ozzy the Owl,” which was brought to a filming of Antiques Roadshow in 1990 by a family who, unaware of its value, had used it as a vase. Valued at more than £20,000 it can now be seen in the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent.
