La Vague (The Wave) by Gustave Courbet, possibly with collaboration. Estimate £20,000–30,000.

LONDON – During the summer of 1869, Courbet stayed at Etretat on the Normandy coast, where he painted several versions of waves breaking on the shore. Fascinated by the surge of the waves against the sky, he was also perhaps influenced by the Japanese prints available in Paris at the time, such as The Great Wave by Hokusai.
