Paul Evans. A rare wall panel, 1974. Estimate $50,000–70,000.
NEW YORK - Joseph and Sheila Yurcik began collecting modern and contemporary design in the early 1990s. The Yurciks “selected” more than they “collected,” which is readily apparent in the artistry and extraordinary quality of their acquisitions. The core of the collection comprises masterworks by the three American design visionaries, Harry Bertoia, Paul Evans and George Nakashima, exemplified here by a magnificent free-form Buckeye Maple burl coffee table and a striking “Sculpture Front” wall panel.
George Nakashima. An important “Minguren I” coffee table, 1980. Estimate $100,000–150,000.
