The Old Master and British Works on Paper in July is set to be one of the most exciting and varied for years. The first session consists of the final part of the famous collection assembled by scholar and connoisseur Paul Oppé (1878-1957), including works by Claude Lorrain, Paolo Veronese and many others. The second part encompasses five centuries of European art with the clear star being the brilliantly confident self-portrait by Sir Peter Lely, from the 1650s, which has remained in the artist’s family until now.  Ingres, Fragonard, Guercino and Turner are also represented by exceptional drawings.
