LONDON - The Swiss citizens who commissioned a unique pocket watch for Winston Churchill referred to Britain’s wartime leader as “the happy warrior.” A warrior first and foremost, his martial achievements during World War II inevitably render discussion of his lifestyle somewhat trivial. However, when reading about Churchill, one gets the feeling that his uncompromising approach to life informed everything he did, whether in grave matters or more trifling ones, like which champagne to drink.

One of the many luxuries his heroic stance in the 1940s afforded us is the freedom to be frivolous. So, given we are now able take victory for granted, let’s take the opportunity to review the great man’s uniquely stylish life.
