LONDON – Think of France en plain air and one immediately conjures up Monet's gardens at Giverny, the glamourous beach at Deauville, the verdant countryside of provincial France and the banks of the Seine near Paris. These are the idyllic scenes that inspired a generation of artists to free themselves from the confines of the studio and venture outdoors. Coming to Sotheby's this June is a range of landscapes and seascapes at varied price points by the key Impressionists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Kees van Dongen, Raoul Dufy and Édouard Manet, among others.
