NEW YORK – On 23 May, Sothebys and Soho House welcomed guests for the second of its ongoing Supper Club series: a conversation between art dealer Fabrizio Morreti and Sotheby’s specialist Edoardo Roberti about collecting and connoisseurship. Moretti, whose London and New York galleries specialise in Renaissance paintings, shared how his interest in art evolved into an all-consuming passion. “Art became my drug,” Moretti said of the moment he opened his gallery in 1999. “I go to bed I think about paintings, I wake up thinking about paintings.” Roberti, who brought with him select pictures from Sotheby’s Master Paintings sale on 26 May, spoke similarly of his “not so minor obsession” with art. Moretti also touched on his acquisitions of contemporary work – a fact that pleasantly surprised the audience. Following the talk were a lively Q&A and an intimate dinner.
