LONDON – The annual RA schools dinner and auction on 25 March was the most successful ever. The live auction raised £80,000, which was considerably more than double the expected target.

Thanks to Robert Suss, Chair of the Patrons of the RA, and Eileen Cooper, RA, Keeper of the Schools, the guests were prepared to bid strongly for a good cause, as the RA schools are completely funded by private donations.

Mariella Frostrup was the guest speaker and gave a deeply personal and moving speech about her mother’s struggle to make a living as a painter and the affect it had on her life.
