Genvieve Bahrenburg and Chuck Close at ARTWALK.
LONDON - Art collectors, patrons and a great deal of star power gathered on 29 October for ARTWALK, an amazing art benefit to support the Coalition for the Homeless. Chaired by Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, Carey Lowell, and Coco Rocha, and honorary chair Richard Gere, and auctioneered by yours truly, we raised a record breaking $1million.
Sponsored by Dolce and Gabbana and a number of other generous contributors, the crowd did not disappoint in their enthusiasm and fantastic fashions, as well as their quest to bid for the incredible works of art. From Jennifer Connelly, Hilary Roda, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, Carey Lowell, Elettra Wiedemann, and Coco Rocha to Chuck Close, Jessica Craig-Martin, Shelley and Vincent Freemont and Maria Baibakova, it was a phenomenal success.
The event honored Roxy Paine, as well as Kim and Michael McCarthy, for their devoted and annual support of the Coalition Live auction bidders vied aggressively to win works by Chuck Close, Wade Guyton, Jenny Holzer, Israel Lund, Adam McEwen, Ed Ruscha, Roxy Paine and Pat Steir. While the silent auction featured works by over 100 artists, including Mary Heilmann, Angel Otero, and Kenny Scharf. A highlight of the evening was having Chuck Close join me in the sale of his magnificent work Genevieve, which dear friends and collectors eventually acquired after a heated bidding war.

One of the other highlights of the evening was Coco Rocha and Alec Baldwin joining me on stage in our quest to solicit more donations. When we achieved a goal of 20 supporters each donating $5,000 they dutifully complied in their promise to offer an exquisite Irish jig. It was truly a night to be remembered.
As an art advisory board member for the Coalition, our team was absolutely thrilled by the results and the outpouring of support from everyone. We are truly grateful to all of the supporters, artists, committee members and sponsors that helped make it such a huge success to ensure that incredible funds will go to the Coalition who will continue offering a safety net to more than 21,000 homeless children every day. I am thrilled on behalf of Sotheby’s to have been a part of this success for such a worthy cause.
