NEW YORK, 15 December 2011 - The annual Holiday Gala for the Children of Armenia Foundation, held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur, was a solid hit, bringing $1.4 million through ticket sales and the auction.

Matthew Broderick, Andrea Martin and Victor Garber added sparkle to the event, but the real stars were two eight-year-old girls who had never been out of Armenia: they sang to the huge audience, melting hearts and making my task a great deal easier.

During the auction, I raised enough money to completely rebuild a school in Armenia by "selling" elements of the building: as in a Gymnasium for $50,000, a Library for $25,000, and so on. We raised $727,500, the entire cost for the renovation.
