NEW YORK - “Hulaween”, the New York Restoration Project’s annual masquerade ball — is the first benefit auction of my 40-year career in which I sung and danced on stage at the Waldorf Astoria with the inimitable Bette Midler.

The Hawaiian theme is in honor of Bette’s home state, and this year had an added twist of “Dia de los Muertos,” the Mexican Day of the Dead. Big donors received “leis” from Bette on stage at the Waldorf Astoria, and we raised a record amount, which the NYRP will use to plant trees in School playgrounds, vacant lots, and on the routes into New York from the airports and tunnels.
