GENEVA – The Magnificent Jewels & Noble Jewels auction in Geneva totalled CHF 149.9 million, the highest ever total for a various owner jewellery auction. Records were broken throughout the sale including The "Sunrise Ruby" an exceptional and immeasurably rare 25.59-carat Burmese stone more than doubling the pre-sale estimate and finally selling for CHF 28,250,000, a world record for a Ruby at auction as well as for any jewel by Cartier.

The Superb and extremely rare ruby and diamond ring, Cartier sold for CHF 28,250,000.

From the same outstanding private collection, three further sensational modern pieces by Cartier achieved great results with a 30.23-carat sapphire from Kashmir achieving CHF 5,738,000, a new record price for a Kashmir sapphire jewel and a pair of elegant sapphire and diamond earrings, made with two exceptional Burmese Mogok sapphires, which achieved CHF 3,190,000, a new record for a pair of Burmese sapphire earrings.

This sale demonstrated exemplary provenance with “The Historic Pink Diamond” believed to have been part of the collection of Princess Mathilde, niece of Napoleon I, achieving CHF 14.8 million and the jewellery from the Estate of Mary, Duchess of Roxburghe all finding buyers.
