LONDON – Having established itself as a leading charity in providing resources for female survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts, to achieve stability and self-sufficiency, Women for Women International continues to make its mark on the London scene.
Many are acquainted with its pragmatic approach of providing year-long vocational and skills-based programmes that have already empowered over 400,000 women survivors of war. With a high-flying list of supporters from blue-chip banks to stars and celebrities, Women for Women has grown exponentially since its modest beginnings in 1993 as the brain child of Iraqi Zainab Salbi. Now working far further afield than just Iraq, women in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Congo, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan are regular beneficiaries.
For those keen to support the work of this extraordinary charity and have some fun in the process, here is what is coming up! On 20 November at 6:30 pm there will be a Catwalk Show and Live Auction at the Vinyl Factory’s amazing new space on Brewer St where I will be acting as auctioneer. A series of must-have dresses for the fashion-lovers of our great city will be sashayed down the aisle and no doubt snapped up in an electric atmosphere by seasoned fashionistas. Hurry and contact email@example.com if you want to be there. If you have already headed to some mid-season destination, just click here to see what’s on offer, and there will also be a not-to-be-missed silent auction.
A GOLD DRESS BY EMILIO PUCCI AND AN ALEXANDER MCQUEEN PINK LEAF CREPE EMBELLISHED GOWN, TO BE AUCTIONED ON 20 NOVEMBER.
As they say, life is all about opportunities. Here is one where you can participate in a wonderful occasion and do both yourself and women across the world a power of good.
