Exceptional Contemporary Works to be Sold in Paris

By Sotheby's

Following the outstanding success of 2017’s auctions where numerous world records were established for major 20th century, June’s Art Contemporain Evening Auction, taking place on 6 June, will once again offer an exceptional selection of works by some of the most important and sought after artists of the last 100 years.

Headlined by Dubuffet’s Portrait d’homme dating from May 1946, Joan Mitchell’s lyrical triptych A Tribord as well as a historical painting by Nicolas de Staël, an outstanding group of works from the School of Paris and a Zao Wou-Ki from a prestigious collection never before seen at auction, the Art Contemporain Evening sale will boast several masterpieces on canvas, works on paper and sculptures that will carefully be assembled at the Galerie Charpentier.

Sotheby’s is delighted to present our upcoming Art Contemporain Day Auction on 7 June, which brings together an exciting group of works by some of the most sought-after artists of the moment. This season’s sale features exceptional post war works by Sam Francis, Mark Tobey, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva and Hans Hartung. Besides a strong post-war presence, the sale will also offer an exciting selection of works by celebrated contemporary artists.
