In Hollywood and beyond, the Goldwyn family is legendary for the memorable films that they brought to the silver screen. Samuel Goldwyn Sr., a pioneer in the Golden Age of film, was celebrated for producing several Oscar winning films and for having launched the careers of many talented directors, actors and writers. His son, Samuel Goldwyn Jr., achieved great success producing numerous independent films, often bringing personal and cerebral material into the mainstream. As a family in the business of telling stories, their collection tells a vibrant story of its own—a story of two generations collecting the art of their time. From Picasso and Matisse to Avery and Hockney, the artists present in the collection personify their generations in a manner matched by the Goldwyns themselves.
