Amsterdam

Since Sotheby's Amsterdam office opened its doors in 1974, it has held many successful and historical sales such as the Estate of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and the BAT (British American Tobacco) Collection, formerly known as the Peter Stuyvesant Collection Sale. Throughout the years many important Dutch collections, for example the collections of Frits Philips, Butôt, Wetzlar and De Geus van den Heuvel were all sold through Sotheby’s.

Since 2011 we no longer conduct auctions in the Netherlands and our team focuses primarily on valuing and selling exceptional works of art to our global audience, either through one of our international selling locations, online or through Private Sales. Our Amsterdam office remains a valuable resource for local clients. Our office is located on the Emmalaan 23 in Amsterdam-South, near the museum district and the Concertgebouw.

Today, our Amsterdam team includes specialists in Old Masters, 19th Century Paintings, Impressionist, Modern & Contemporary Art and Decorative Arts. With the help of our international team of experts in all other collecting categories including Jewellery and Watches but also Wine, Furniture, Silver, 20th Century Design, Sculpture and many others we can assist you with a wide range of services. We offer confidential advice on buying and selling through Sotheby’s international auctions and Private Sales. We also conduct valuations and inventory reports for many of our clients. This can be anything from a single object to an entire cross-category collection and can be done for multiple collection management purposes including insurance valuations.

At present, we are actively seeking consignments in all collecting categories for inclusion in Sotheby's upcoming sales. If you wish to have a work valued, please contact our Amsterdam office to set up an appointment.

The Amsterdam office is also happy to facilitate bidding in one of our auctions or arrange shipment of consigned or purchased property.
