Catalogue Note

The Gregory family lived at Harlaxton Manor, Lincolnshire, which was acquired in the early seventeenth century by Daniel de Ligne and which passed through marriage to the Gregory family in the mid-eighteenth century. In the 1830s George de Ligne Gregory employed Salvin and Burn to remodel the house which John Sherwin-Gregory inherited in 1860.
