The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the margins are warmer and the maroon pigment tends more towards Bordeaux in the original. The catalogue also fails to convey the rich texture of the impasto visible in the original.
This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals a few unobtrusive losses to some of the thicker impasto peaks, which is characteristic of the artist's use of medium. All other surface irregularities appear to be inherent to the artist's working process. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
