Catalogue Note

Chilean artist Sebastián Errázuriz, winner of a 2006 Fulbright Scholarship, has gained critical acclaim for his furniture designs, installations, and performance art.  His design for the "Tea x Two" tea cup, completed after a period of training in Alessandro Mendini's workshops in Milan, was chosen for the Everyday Wonders exhibition in Geneva.  His work was also in the Love Why? exposition organized by Felissimo and shown in Tokyo, New York, Paris and Barcelona.

With more than 40 expositions and over 200 press articles, his most recent projects include The Cow, a live cow rescued from a slaughter house and taken to live on a miniature farm recreated on top of a ten story building in the middle of downtown Santiago; The Tree, a soccer match played in Chile's national stadium for charity, in which a large tree is planted in the center of the field; and The Orchestra in which a director-less orchestra of some of the most talented musicians in Chile will await in Santiago's main street for passersby to conduct them.

The "Bowl" table won the Development and Research award in the Stgo.Diseño exhibition in 2005.  It is hand-made with hundreds of strips of plywood bonded together, sand papered and polished over and over again until the surface of the plywood strips appear as a whole, after which it is cut and finally sealed and varnished.
