Catalogue Note

The Patek Philippe reference 6102 is powered by the incredible 240 LU CL C caliber. This reference was the first Celestial to feature the date that is indicated by a red crescent tipped hand. Like with all Celestial wristwatches, the dial displays the skychart, time of Meridian Passage of Sirius, time of Meridian Passage of the Moon, orbital position of the Moon and moon phases. These astronomical indications can be broken down by the following, the skychart is a reading of the night sky from a certain latitude, hemisphere and time. The 6102 features the Northern hemispheric view of the sky and a planisphere that can be seen from the latitude of Geneva. What this means is that if one looks up at the Geneva sky at midnight, then refer to the wristwatch, one should be able to pinpoint the desired star on the dial that can be seen in the night sky.

The genius behind the Patek Philippe Celestial is how the dial is made and how it mirrors the night sky. The dial is composed of three blue sapphire crystal discs and the Celestial itself is a product of the Star Calibre 2000 that was made to celebrate the Millennium.

Consigned by a highly important collector, the present example has been retained in excellent overall condition and complete with all original accessories.
