Description

richly carved with acanthus leaves, guilloches, and pearls, scrolled armrests on a curved arm support, above a seat rail decorated with leaves, on fluted feet, drop-in seats upholstered in green silk, stamped G.IACOB, crowned marque au feu of Bagatelle, B and crowned marque au feu of the Comte d’Artois

Condition

This armchair is in overall very good conserved condition. Very minor losses to gilding. Upholstery à chassis (i.e removable) was done according to current museum standards. As stated in the catalogue, the lily flower at the end of each armrest has been removed during the Revolution, however a mould is available to the prospective buyer. Two reports are available upon request: the first discusses the study, cleaning and touching up of the gilding. The second regards the restoration of small losses to some carved details. Detailed images available upon request to the furniture department.
