Condition

Both paintings are warmer in tone than the catalogue illustrations would suggest. Both paintings have been relined. The painted surfaces of both works seem to be nicely preserved with no major damages apparent. The painted surface has a good fine craquelure pattern which is consistent with its age. Tiny retouchings are visible along their edges and in the center of the sky area of the first picture. Under UV The first picture shows a larger retouching in the central sky area as mentioned above, some strengthenings in the boat lower left, in the figures lower left and a bit along edges. The second picture shows a fluoresces varnish layer with a few tiny retouchings in the sky area. Offered with carved and giltwood frames.
