Condition

Good overall condition, consistent with age, use and external exposure. The patina presents with some light wear throughout and some instances of light oxidation, consistent with external use. The base presents with some more significant oxidation. The galvanised copper leaves present with cracks and holes, inherent to the making. There are several cracks at the junctions between the leaves and the body, some of them might be original to the making and might have worsened over time. A few of these cracks presents with previous attempts of stabilization. A portion of a leaf has been broken and poorly re-glued. The glue is visible upon close inspection and this element is currently very fragile. Some dirt, dust and dead leaves within the sculpture. This sculpture can be used as a fountain. Sotheby's does not guarantee the working order of the foutain and some elements of the mechanism might be missing.
