Condition
This canvas appears to be unlined and is stable on its stretcher. The painting reads well, presents a strong image beneath a clear varnish, and retains much of its detail. There is an old, thin horizontal repaired tear at the upper center of the sky. There are a a few scattered spots of retouching in the sky, many of which have faintly discolored and are visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV reveals the aforementioned repair and retouches , as well as some attention to the extreme edges, likely from old frame abrasion. There are only a few very small scattered fine strokes of retouching to the architecture, left of the columns at center, as well as a two spots in the architecture near the center of the right edge. The painting can certainly hang as is, and it is offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame.
