Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is no signs of retouching visible under UV light. There is a line of light fluorescence (approx. 5 cm long), possibly glue remnant, which does not appear to be related to any retouching, towards the center of the composition. There is a small paint loss towards the center of the composition (approx. 16 cm from left edge and 15 cm from lower edge) and a tiny paint losse to the lower right quadrant (approx. 9 cm from the lower edge and 5 cm from the right edge). There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall very good condition.

Catalogue Note

"A surprising immobility emerges from these landmarks standing on the table like gnomons on a map, grouped, gathered together to put the process of time in order, to probe its mystery, observe its meaning, small domestic observatories, larique calendars celebrating the meticulous ritual of the sun."
Jean Leymarie about Morandi
