Condition

Please note that this work is stretched. Original canvas. Minor buckling to the canvas. Please note that there appear to be two patches in the canvas within the centre of the work, the largest measuring approximately 100mm high by 170mm wide. Minor cracking visible to the recto where the patches are. Please note that there are minor surface marks throughout the work, particularly towards the extremities of the work. There are minor stretching marks to the edges of the canvas. Light surface cracking in places. There are areas along the extremities where material which has been adhered to the canvas appears to be lifting slightly or exhibits minor loss. There is an area of surface loss within the lower right-hand corner of the work. There are punctures to the excess canvas along the right-hand framing edge, probably from when the work was previously stretched. These punctures exhibit some rust. Please note that the canvas is slightly loose and would benefit from being further secured to the stretcher. UV Light Report: Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration or repair. Frame: Please note that this work is unframed. Further enquiries: Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6323 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
