Description

Designed as a figure holding an umbrella and wearing a hat, composed of coral, lapis lazuli, amazonite and chalcedony beads, signed Cartier, Paris, with French assay marks.

Condition

In fair to good condition given the age of the piece, the mounting with wear and areas of discoloration and solder, not noticeable when worn, and evidence of adhesive on several beads and the mounting, noticeable upon close inspection. French assay marks for 18 karat gold. The coral is medium light to medium reddish orange, with moderate pitting, as is typical for coral. The lapis lazuli is medium deep blue, slightly mottled, with a few flecks of pyrite, in good condition. The amazonite is bluish green, with characteristic mottled appearance, a small abrasion and a fracture, noticeable only under close inspection and not affecting wearability. The chalcedony is slightly greenish gray, in good condition. Dimensions approximately 1⅛ x ⅝ inch.
