Condition
The panel appears to be sound, although there appears to be an historic loss to the panel in the extreme lower right corner. There is some frame abrasion, with some minor associated flecks of loss, largely not visible in the present mount. There are a couple of light scuffs to the surface. There is surface dirt and studio matter throughout. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals some sensitively executed spot retouchings throughout. There is also some retouching in the figure on the Madonna's proper right side, and in the extreme lower right corner, in keeping with the previously mentioned loss.
